There are few better ways to know a city than on foot. And few better cities to run than Prague.

The Prague Marathon, organised by RunCzech, is one of Europe's most celebrated races. A course that takes you past the city's most breathtaking landmarks, across the Charles Bridge and along the banks of the Vltava. If you're running it, you've chosen well.

Here's how to make the most of your marathon weekend – from choosing where to stay to crossing the finish line feeling strong.

Choosing your hotel

Location matters more than you might think during marathon weekend. You want to be close enough to the start to walk there calmly, without adding unnecessary kilometres to your legs before the race even begins.

The Julius is a five-minute walk from Náměstí Republiky, one of Prague's most central addresses, and ideally placed for the marathon start at Old Town Square. No last-minute taxi stress. No early alarm panic. Just a calm walk through a waking city.

Space matters too. Our suites offer a full kitchen, a generous living area, and a bedroom that's entirely your own. So you can eat, rest and prepare exactly as your routine requires.

Before the race

We think of the details so you don't have to.

Race number collection requires each runner to attend the expo in person, but we can help you complete the online authorisation process through Runners ID, so everything is as smooth as possible before you even arrive.

Tell us your pre-race preferences and we'll stock your kitchen accordingly. Pasta, rice, bananas, electrolyte drinks, porridge – whatever your preparation calls for, we'll make sure it's there.

Race morning breakfast is ready when you are. Early start? Not a problem.

The Course

The Prague Marathon starts and finishes at Old Town Square, one of the most beautiful race settings in Europe. The course winds through Staré Město, across the Vltava, and through some of the city's most remarkable neighbourhoods.

It is, quite simply, one of the most scenic 42 kilometres you'll ever run.

After the race

This is where a good hotel earns its place.

Come back to a warm room, a hot shower, and whatever your body is asking for. We'll have recovery essentials ready – protein snacks, fruit, coconut water, magnesium supplements – stocked in your suite ahead of your return.

If your legs need more attention, our team can arrange a sports massage at the hotel. Just let us know in advance and we'll have it scheduled for when you finish.

Then, when you're ready, Prague is waiting. The city has a way of rewarding those who've earned a slow afternoon in it.

A few practical tips

• The start and finish is at Old Town Square – arrive with time to spare

• The course is largely flat with gentle riverside stretches – fast conditions for most runners

• Prague in spring can be cool at the start and warm by midday – dress in layers you can tie around your waist

• Hydration stations are well placed throughout – trust the course

• Post-race, Old Town Square itself is a beautiful place to sit, eat and reflect
